Happy Halloween!

31 10 2008

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Halloween. Make sure you check your candy for razor blades before you eat it. And don’t have sex. It just ends up leading to a brutally horrifying death.

Sam Raimi’s ‘Drag Me To Hell’

30 10 2008

The Evil Dead is perhaps my favorite horror film of all time. As an aspiring filmmaker, watching that film, knowing Sam Raimi made it for only $375,000, is astounding. I should hope to be so lucky. Anyway, if you’re a Sam Raimi fan, chances are you already know about his next project: Drag Me To Hell. This is his first time writing/directing a horror film in over 15 years and after Spider-Man 3, he needs to redeem himself. Based on the concept of the film, it sounds totally like a Sam Raimi horror film.

From BloodyDisgusting.com:

“Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is an ambitious L.A. loan officer with a charming boyfriend, professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long). Life is good until the mysterious Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) arrives at the bank to beg for an extension on her home loan. Should Christine follow her instincts and give the old woman a break? Or should she deny the extension to impress her boss, Mr. Jacks (David Paymer), and get a leg-up on a promotion? Christine fatefully chooses the latter, shaming Mrs. Ganush and dispossessing her of her home.

In retaliation, the old woman places the powerful curse of the Lamia on Christine, transforming her life into a living hell. Haunted by an evil spirit and misunderstood by a skeptical boyfriend, she seeks the aid of seer Rham Jas (Dileep Rao) to save her soul from eternal damnation. To help the shattered Christine return her life to normal, the psychic sets her on a frantic course to reverse the spell. As evil forces close in, Christine must face the unthinkable: how far will she go to break free of the curse?”

I’m pretty psyched for this.

The First Images From Guy Richie’s ‘Sherlock Holmes’

30 10 2008

The Bad & Ugly posted the first images leaked out from Guy Richie’s new film, Sherlock Holmes. Jude Law is almost unrecognizable as Watson, but oddly enough, Robert Downey Jr. looks kinda like he did about 10 years ago before he started rehab. Whatever. I love Robert Downey Jr., so I’ll be waiting in line for this movie for sure. What’s most interesting, though, is how Richie is deviating from his usual, British gangster movies. I’m curious to see how this turns out.

5 Minute Trailer For ‘The Day The Earth Stood Still’

30 10 2008

Here’s the extended trailer for The Day The Earth Stood Still. While it looks cool, I can’t help but think that it’s going to wildly deviate from the original film–something I do not support. Hell, I don’t even support the remake in general, but perhaps if this movie had a different title, it wouldn’t sting quite so bad. What I’m mostly looking forward to is seeing Jon Hamm in a role outside of AMC’s Mad Men, but that’s about it.

‘Friday the 13th’ Remake Teaser Trailer

23 10 2008

As most of you probably know, a remake of the horror classic, Friday the 13th is being released in February. The teaser trailer was just released and, while it looks awesome, I’m almost 100% confident that it’s going to suck. Do I need to point out that Jason Voorhees didn’t get his hockey mask until the 3rd movie? Oh, and in the original, Camp Crystal Lake was a fully functional camp–not a run down, abandoned ghost town.

New ‘Watchmen’ Trailer from the 2008 Scream Awards

22 10 2008

Not only did the Dark Knight sweep almost every single category, but director Zach Snyder showed up to debut some new footage at the Scream Awards this year. There’s a bunch more slow motion and way more cool poses.

Seth Rogen Hates ‘Ghostbusters 3′ Idea

20 10 2008

That’s right. Seth Rogen, who was rumored to be involved with the ill-fated Ghostbusters sequel, actually disagrees with the entire idea of a third movie.

From Slashfilm:

‘It’s hard to imagine that would be good, isn’t it?” asks Rogen. “I mean just as a movie fan I am the first guy to be skeptical of that. It sounds like a terrible idea when you first hear it. At first hearing it sounds like the worst idea ever. I dunno. Maybe. I mean, that would have to be one mutherfucking good script.’
