Happy Thanksgiving!

27 11 2008

I know the day is about an hour from being over, but this is the first chance I’ve had all day to post, so I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. If you have shopping plans tomorrow, I strongly suggest you bring a blunt object to fight off all the crazy holiday shoppers. Seriously. Those people are out of control.

For Your Consideration: Best Supporting Actor, Heath Ledger

26 11 2008

Warner Bros. has started it’s advertising campaign to get Heath Ledger an Oscar nomination. I really hope the guy at least gets a nomination and I think most people agree with me. Taking into consideration the fact that this year was totally weak when it comes to Oscar contenders, plus all the critical acclaim he received for his performance, I’d say he’s got a pretty good shot. Lord knows I’m pulling for him. It’d be the perfect ending to a brilliant career cut short.

‘Terminator: Salvation’ Poster

25 11 2008

It never occurred to me that Los Angeles was built in a skull shape. That’s pretty convenient. I hope this movie is good…although it probably won’t be.

‘Notorious’ Poster

25 11 2008

So here’s yet another rapper biopic. I probably won’t see this movie, but if I do, it’ll only be to hear the song ‘Notorious’ by Duran Duran, which is probably only used in the trailer.

Jeff Brydges’ ‘Iron Man’ Photography

24 11 2008

It turns out that Jeff Brydges is not only a brilliant actor, but also a pretty good photographer. He recently updated his website, JeffBrydges.com, with a photo diary full of behind-the-scenes pictures of the set (and production meetings) from Iron Man. Thanks to /Film for posting these.

‘Ace Ventura Jr.’ Trailer

24 11 2008

Okay, so the good news is Ace Ventura Jr. is being released straight-to-DVD, so no one has to worry about dragging their kids to see it. The bad news is that it was still made and your kids will be begging you to drive them to the store to waste your hard earned money on it. I’m still wondering why straight-to-DVD movies are still being made. Either way, a trailer was released and whether you asked for it or not, here it is:

Spike Jonze Speaks Out About ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ (Finally!)

19 11 2008

After about 3 years of production and a multitude of setbacks, director Spike Jonze is finally talking about Where the Wild Things Are. He gave an extremely long interview for Moriarty over at Ain’t It Cool News where he discusses everything from the rehearsal process to how the movie is like Star Wars. Judging by the stills, it certainly looks like the time we’ve spent waiting is going to be well worth it. If anyone can do justice to Maurice Sendak’s book, it’s Spike Jonze.

Possibly A First Look At Johnny Depp As The Mad Hatter?

17 11 2008

I don’t know how authentic this is, but I think it’s a little too Magenta for me. I love Tim Burton, however I trust him to be better than that. Any thoughts?

Poster for ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’

17 11 2008

If it didn’t look like a mirrored poster for a Judd Apatow movie, and if I hadn’t seen the trailer already, I probably wouldn’t be that interested.

Poster For Darren Aronofsky’s ‘The Wrestler’

17 11 2008

I’ve read a surprising amount of good things about this film. While I love Darren Aronofsky, I didn’t expect a film about a professional wrestler to be getting so much buzz. If a film is claiming to be the “resurrection” of Mickey “The Motorcycle Boy” Rourke, it must be awesome. Or maybe they just didn’t see Sin City.
