Okay, so Harold Ramis wrote an email to Mark Caro, writer for the Chicago Tribune, confirming a new Ghostbusters film:
“yes, columbia is developing a script for GB3 with my year one writing partners, gene stupnitsky and lee eisenberg. judd apatow is co-producing year one and has made several other films for sony, so of course the studio is hoping to tap into some of the same acting talent. aykroyd, ivan reitman and i are consulting at this point, and according to dan, bill murray is willing to be involved on some level. he did record his dialogue for the new ghostbusters video game, as did danny and i, and ernie hudson. the concept is that the old ghostbusters would appear in the film in some mentor capacity. not much else to say at this point. everyone is confident a decent script can be written and i guess we’ll take it from there. best, harold”
I still hate the idea of this movie being made, but I guess one redeeming factor is that the original cast (except Ernie Hudson?) are going to be involved on some level. Whatever. I can’t stop them. I guess the only thing we can do now is cross our fingers and hope for the best (the best being a cancellation of the movie’s production).

Ever since I saw Back to the Future (my all-time favorite movie), I’ve been in love with Huey Lewis & The News. Every time I hear “The Power of Love,” it takes me back to 1985. Two years before I was born. That’s how awesome that song is. And then there was the axe-wielding Christian Bale, dancing to “Hip to be Square” before smashing the axe into Jared Leto’s face in American Psycho.
Now, I’m not the biggest fan of stoner movies, but I’ve had a soft spot for Seth Rogen, James Franco, and Judd Apatow ever since Freaks & Geeks, so I think that combining them with Huey Lewis & The News should make for, at the very least, an exciting opening opening title sequence and/or car chase. I’m staying optimistic about the film as a whole. After all, I’ve loved everything they’ve put out so far. From The 40-Year-Old Virgin to Superbad. My fingers are crossed.
However, I imagine it being exponentially better than what Columbia Pictures and Judd Apatow have in mind. Apparently, Columbia plans to release a comedy about Detective Holmes and his trusty side-kick, Watson starring Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat, Sweeney Todd) and Will Ferrell (Anchorman, Talladega Nights) respectively. Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder) is currently penning the script.
