Seth Rogen Hates ‘Ghostbusters 3′ Idea

20 10 2008

That’s right. Seth Rogen, who was rumored to be involved with the ill-fated Ghostbusters sequel, actually disagrees with the entire idea of a third movie.

From Slashfilm:

‘It’s hard to imagine that would be good, isn’t it?” asks Rogen. “I mean just as a movie fan I am the first guy to be skeptical of that. It sounds like a terrible idea when you first hear it. At first hearing it sounds like the worst idea ever. I dunno. Maybe. I mean, that would have to be one mutherfucking good script.’

Dan Aykroyd On ‘Ghostbusters 3′

4 09 2008

If there’s anything more annoying than shitty remakes, it’s the rebooting of decades-old franchises. While more Ghostbusters movies would’ve been enjoyable 18 years ago, I think it’s kind of a dead issue now. It’s been almost 20 years since Ghostbusters 2 was released in 1989. Regardless, it looks like the studio execs have a different opinion since apparently, a script is currently in the works.

Dan Aykroyd had this to say:

“Well, y’know, two sharp young writers are purported to be writing the sequel, the third movie now. If I could interest Seth [Rogen] and Judd [Apatow] to be part of it, that would be an absolute dream.”

Now, I’m a pretty big fan of Judd Apatow and company, but I don’t think they’re the solution for everything. I can’t imagine them making a sequel that stays true to the franchise. Like I said, the Ghostbusters are a dead issue to me. I think it’s best to leave it alone at this point, but who am I?

Huey Lewis Performs The Title Track For ‘Pineapple Express’

2 07 2008

Ever since I saw Back to the Future (my all-time favorite movie), I’ve been in love with Huey Lewis & The News. Every time I hear “The Power of Love,” it takes me back to 1985. Two years before I was born. That’s how awesome that song is. And then there was the axe-wielding Christian Bale, dancing to “Hip to be Square” before smashing the axe into Jared Leto’s face in American Psycho.

Huey Lewis is pretty much a staple in 80s popular culture, for me at least. Now, it seems as though he and the News could be making a triumphant return in 2008. The Myspace page for Pineapple Express is currently hosting the title track to the film, which is performed by Huey Lewis & The FREAKIN’ News, along with the rest of the film’s soundtrack.

Now, I’m not the biggest fan of stoner movies, but I’ve had a soft spot for Seth Rogen, James Franco, and Judd Apatow ever since Freaks & Geeks, so I think that combining them with Huey Lewis & The News should make for, at the very least, an exciting opening opening title sequence and/or car chase. I’m staying optimistic about the film as a whole. After all, I’ve loved everything they’ve put out so far. From The 40-Year-Old Virgin to Superbad. My fingers are crossed.
