The First ‘Watchmen’ Trailer To Be Shown With ‘The Dark Knight’

2 07 2008

According to Collider.com, the very first trailer for the much anticipated Watchmen movie will precede The Dark Knight when it opens on July 18th. Director Zack Snyder said that “we will be getting our first look at what is sure to be an epic superhero movie.” I don’t know about you, but I’ve been psyched about Watchmen being made into a movie since I read the graphic novel a few years ago. All I’ve seen so far are a few stills and some promotional stuff, but it all looks damn near perfect. I’m sure the trailer will be just as incredible if not more so.

As of right now, Zack Snyder has mentioned that the film itself is currently 3 hours long and is in the process of being cut down. Unfortunately, this is a decision not made by Snyder, but by the studio. I understand that, like any adapted work, some material needs to be omitted for one reason or another. As most fans already know, the story within a story, “Tales of the Black Freighter,” which serves as a parallel to the main story, will not be included in the actual film, but will be released as an animated, straight-to-DVD feature, starring Gerard Butler, on March 11, 2009.

I just hope that the final cut of the film stays true to the source material. If not, I’m sure there will be an Unrated Extended Director’s Cut with all that extra stuff when it comes out on DVD.

The film’s release date is March 6, 2009.
